About the location

Portreath was originally a small fishing village but during the early 18th century it became one of the most important industrial ports in Cornwall and a major part of the Cornish mining industry. Today it's a popular holiday destination, with a traditional working harbour, popular sandy beach with a stream running to the sea on one side. Portreath is steeped in history and surrounded by beautiful countryside with stunning views, spectacular cliffs and walking trails including the famous South West Coast Path and The Coast to Coast Mineral Tramway, a walking and cycle trail from Portreath to Deveron, 11 miles (17km) through historic mining country, Cycle Hire available locally. The Tehidy Country Park with 250 acres of woodland, lakes, bridleways, cycling and nature trails.

Within easy reach from Portreath are Porthtowan with the popular beachfront Blue Bar, Gwithian and Hayle Towans with three miles of golden sands and St Ives with its many art galleries including the famous Tate St Ives.

There are several golf courses close by including Tehidy Golf Club and Radnor Golf and Leisure
