Large Edwardian Home in Central Manchester

We have a large Edwardian family home located just south of central Manchester. On the ground floor is a porch, large hall, livingroom, open plan kitchen and diningroom, and bathroom. On the middle floor we have 3 bedrooms; a large master bedroom with a king sized bed and TV, a large single bedroom, a smaller single bedroom, and a small office, as well as a modern family bathroom. On the top floor is a large attic double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and lovely views. There is a small garden in the back, with a lawn, patio area, loveseat, greenhouse and garage. You are welcome to use our BBQ, deck chairs, bikes and garden furniture on sunny days! At the front of the house is a drive big enough for one large car; street parking is available too. The livingroom has large bay windows, a three seater couch, a two seater couch and an armchair. There is a TV, DVD player and Nintendo Wii available to use, with NOW TV, Netflix, iPlayers and an Amazon Firestick all at your disposal. We also have a selection of books, DVD’s and board games available for you to enjoy. There are two fireplaces (in the livingroom and dining room), however, they are purely ornamental and should not be used. The kitchen has been recently renovated and comes fully equipped with everything you could need, including a dishwasher and washing machine. There are two diningroom tables, a smaller fold out table as well as a large one which fits 8 people. There is also a large TV. We have recently renovated the hall and had all new flooring put down downstairs and up to the first floor (carpets and hardwood flooring.) This property is suitable for families, couples and small groups. Pets are welcome.

About the location

Manchester is a vibrant and multi-cultural city, full of things to see and do. Whether you’re a history buff, football fanatic or lover of the great outdoors, Manchester has something for everyone and is a fantastic base for exploring the north west.

Despite being located in the heart of Manchester, our home is on a quiet cul-de-sac. It is lined with Edwardian houses and trees. It is a close-knit, multi-cultural neighbourhood, with a mixture of families, students, pensioners and business people living and working in the area. We are located only 5 minutes from the famous curry mile where you can choose to experience authentic Indian and middle eastern food from a vast array of restaurants, cafes and bars. There are three lovely parks all within ten minutes walking distance. There are bus stops all along the curry mile and as they are on the main bus route, it is exceptionally easy and cheap to get in and around the city. There are also cycle lanes along the main road if you prefer to go by bike. Manchester City Centre is a 40 minute walk or a 10 minute bus ride away. Local points of interest include: Manchester Museum, Manchester University, Manchester Aquatic Centre, Elizabeth Gaskell’s House, Victorian Baths and the award-winning Whitworth Art Gallery. These are all within easy walking distance, as well as a broad selection of cafes, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets.

The city centre has a buzzing high street with a vast amount of shops, cafes and restaurants. There is an indoor shopping mall called The Arndale Centre which is also very popular. Other notable highlights include: The Northern Quater, Printworks, The John Rylands Library, Manchester Central Library, Cheethams Library, Manchester Cathedral, The National Football Museum, MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry), The People’s Museum, Manchester Art Gallery, Spinningfields, Deansgate, China Town, St Anne’s Square and the Town Hall. Just over the river lies Media City, sitting on the edge of the Salford Quays. Here is where numerous TV studios are situated, including the BBC and ITV (tours are available if you prebook online). There is also the Lowry Museum and Theatre, a shopping centre, restaurants, cafes, The Imperial War Museum, Ordsall Hall and various events that take place throughout the year. The Trafford Centre, one of the largest shopping malls in the UK, is a mere 25 minute drive away from the house.

If you have a car and would like to travel slightly further afield, there are a host of National Trust properties and stately homes with beautiful gardens to visit. Some of these include: Tatton Park, Dunham Massey, Quarry Bank Mill, Lyme Park and Bramhall Hall (all approx. 35 mins away). The Peak District National Park is a 35 minute drive away, The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks are both 1.5 hours away and Snowdonia (Wales) is just under 2 hours away. Other cities worth visiting in the north west are also easily reached from Manchester, such as Chester, Liverpool, Blackpool and Leeds (all 1 hr away) and York, Harrogate and Sheffield (approx. 1 hr 40). All of these places are also easily reachable by train from one of Manchester’s 3 main railway stations. Manchester airport is only a 20 minute drive from our property.
