A quiet house 5 minutes walk from Saltaire UNESCO World Heritage Site - Yorkshire

Our home is a large comfortable, centrally heated, semi detached house. The ground floor has a large dinning kitchen with French windows out onto a sunny south facing patio, a separate lounge with gas fire, and a wc/utility room. There are three bedrooms 2 king size, and one double. There are two bathrooms. There is a view of distant hills from the front and over the large back garden. We have outdoor furniture and a garden room for cooler days There is off road parking for three cars.

About the location

Saltaire Village is an attractive Victorian industrial village built around Salt’s Mill. While there are shops wine bars and bistros, the Mill itself has unusual shops, restaurants, cafes and galleries. Through the year there are a number of open house events, arts festivals and even a “Living Advent Calendar trail”. The Waterside restaurant in nearby Shipley is highly rated nationally.
Bradford is 3 miles away with The National Media Museum where you can watch films in IMAX or in Cinerama wide screen format. The ornate City Hall is offset by the spectacular Mirror Pool. There is a unique underground arcade called Sunbridge Wells. The old wool exchange is now Waterstones bookshop and there is a tiny historic Cathedral and close.

As well as an Industrial Museum and Bolling Hall historic house, Cartwright Hall Art Gallery has a fine collection of Hockney pictures. The adjacent park has a Mugal water garden and a boating lake with cafe. Bombay Stores is a unique Bradford Asian department store. There are a number of Asian food supermarkets. There are also many exotic restaurants.

Access to frequent public transport is easy. Leeds is 15 minutes away on the train. Shipley is a good starting point for a day out on the famous Settle to Carlisle railway. There are walks along the River Aire and the Leeds Liverpool canal that can be accessed directly from the house. The canal towpath is also a cycle route. At the weekend you can ride on The Shipley Glen Tramway.
The 90 mile Dales Highway walking route to Appleby starts in Saltaire with links to The Dales Way The Pennine Way is 10 miles away.

Other local attractions in the area are Haworth and the Bronte Museum. The Worth Valley Steam Railway (of Railway Children fame) serves the village station. Ilkley with Bettys Tea Room and its famous Moor can be easily reached. It has pretty riverside walks and a large open air lido. Bingley has the unusual “Five Rise” canal locks. Skipton is a fine market town with an attractive castle that is well worth a visit. Bolton Abbey has peaceful walks along the river Wharf where sometimes otters can be seen. East Riddlesden Hall is an interesting National Trust property with Gilbert and Sullivan connections. York, Harrogate, Halifax, Malham and Grassington are all less than an hours drive away as are many of the Southern Dales. The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is near Wakefield
