Apartment with fabulous views of Lymington Quay - New Forest

Our home is located in Lymington, an ancient market town located within the New Forest. The apartment directly overlooks the bustling quay. On the second floor, it is accessed via a carpeted staircase (28 steps, no lift) and is spacious and comfortable, with a king sized bed in each bedroom. The main bedroom has most storage, with a range of cupboards and drawers. The smaller bedroom has an en-suite shower room, while there is an additional full bathroom with bathtub and shower over the bath. Both bedrooms open out on to the west facing balcony.

The eat in kitchen has all the usual mod cons and the washing machine is situated in a separate cupboard along the hallway.

The main asset of our home is the mesmerising view form the living/dining room. The view takes in the wide sweep of Lymington Town quay, with it`s yachts, ferries, swans in the slipway and is fascinating, whatever the weather! The Isle of Wight can be seen in the distance and a small passenger boat ferries people back and forth to Yarmouth while the car ferries to Yarmouth, which also take foot passengers, can be accessed from the other side of the river. Fishing boats come and go, yachts moor for a stopover, paddle boarders and canoeist practice their skills and, as the afternoon fades into evening, the changing light over the river creates a very special atmosphere.

About the location

You could while away your entire holiday just sitting at the window - that view really is fascinating - but stroll a couple of minutes along the famous cobbles and you will reach the bottom of the High Street. There is a weekly Saturday market which, amazingly, has been going for 600 years. A variety of terrific walks and/or bike rides are accessible directly from the flat, either into the country lanes across the bridge, or around the lanes and along the sea wall towards Keyhaven, with views across to the isle of wight. The wetlands en route are a joy with their huge variety of migratory birds, a twitcher`s paradise.

The Wightlink ferry has regular sailings from Lymington to Yarmouth.
The local two-coach Brockehurst train trundles slowly across the bridge every half an hour and you can hop on at Lymington Town station (a five minute walk) for one stop to the ferry terminal or one stop in the opposite direction direction to the popular village of Brockenhurst, which is situated in the New Forest National Park.

Puffin Billy offers river trips daily from the quay and it is also possible to organise a fishing trip. There is a bike hire shop about a hundred yards away, just along the cobbles.

The lido style Lymington Seawater swimming baths adjacent to Lymington marina are within a ten minute walk.

A visit to Lymington is a delight at any time of the year as each season brings its own, special qualities.

You could put your car in the garage and leave it there for the duration of your stay in Lymington, as there is so much right on the doorstep to discover and enjoy. However, you might want to spare some time to head off and discover more of the delights which the New Forest has to offer.
