About the location

Longstanton is a quiet and attractive village on the edge of Cambridge with its own shops, church, pub and traditional fish and chip shop. Just 800 metres from our home is the guided bus that takes passengers into the centre of the historic city of Cambridge in just 30 minutes.

Cambridge is world famous for its prestigious university, ancient buildings, fascinating museums, wonderful restaurants, cosy pubs and great shopping, surrounded by the River Cam with opportunities to travel by punt and parkland in which to relax and enjoy a picnic.

From Cambridge train station, you can travel direct to Stansted airport in just 40 minutes or to London in under 1 hour by very frequent and efficient trains. The guided bus from our house will take you directly to Cambridge train station in 30 minutes, allowing you to travel to London or the airport very quickly and cheaply.

Locally to Longstanton, there are many beautiful and interesting areas to visit, including the National Trust properties of Anglesey Abbey, Wimpole Hall and Houghton Mill all within 20 minutes drive. Travelling on the guided bus away from Cambridge, you could visit the historic town of St Ives with boat trips on the river, tea shops and museum, just 20 minutes away.

The beautiful city of Ely with its ancient cathedral is located to the north of Cambridge with access by rail (15 minutes from Cambridge station) or a 20 minutes drive from Longstanton.

Further afield, the coast can be reached by car in one hour. I would recommend a visit to the quaint seaside town of Southwold in Suffolk, or the unspoilt North Norfolk coast with access to the Queen`s residence at Sandringham.

Longstanton offers easy access to all the main London airports, with Luton and Stansted being closest. The village is just 3 km to the north of the M11 motorway and A14, so access to the Eurotunnel and Dover port is less than two hours.

Longstanton offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy historic Cambridge and forms a ideal base for day trips or theatre visits to London, whilst being in a tranquil location on the edge of the peaceful fenland countryside.
