Andalucian Cave House
We live in cave house in a hamlet, the nearest village and shops are a 5 minute drive in Galera which is a pretty village but more shops including Lidl can be found in Baza which is about 30 minutes drive.
We have 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed which is en suite and the other with 2 single beds. There is a lounge with log burner, kitchen with washing machine, fridge/freezer and cooker plus a house bathroom. We have a sunny courtyard for sitting/dining plus a garden where we grow fruit and vegetables. We look out onto a local vineyard where wine can be purchased.
About the location
Our house is in inland Spain in an area called the Altiplano where there are many cave houses and is where the first European settlers came from.
We have local spring fed open air pool which is open all year and is free in the next village about 10 mins by car. Many of the local villages hold Fiestas, where there is dancing and singing which can go on into the early hours. There are also several local museums with excavations of neolithic burial sites.
Within an hours drive we have lakes and mountains and are only 2 hours from the beautiful city of Granada.
