The town, which dates back to the 11th century, is famous for its college which has educated many of the Royal family. Both Stonehenge and the Avebury stone circles are less than 30 minutes by car. The area is well known as the crop circle capital of the world. The Roman city of Bath and Salisbury are within an hours drive.
