our house home swap
Our home is large, well proportioned and comfortably furnished with plenty of natural light. On the ground floor are two receptions and a kitchen. We have a good selection of books , a piano or a 50 inch TV / Wifi /Xbox / DVD player should you wish to put your feet up. I have a rowing machine if you have the energy . On the first floor are three double bedrooms and bathroom, on the second floor the attic room has a further double bed and french single bed together with ensuite bathroom. The kitchen doors open onto the garden which is mature and sunny with a lawn , fruit trees, roses and wallflowers. In August the annual Bristol Balloon Fiesta is not to be missed, probably the best view of it is from the park at the corner of our street, or from our back garden !! See www.visitbristol.co.uk for more details.
We have several bikes you can borrow , tennis racquets etc , the local courts are free.
About the location
The street is quiet and leafy, very close to a park on a hill with wonderful views across the city to Brunel's suspension bridge and the surrounding countryside. We have friendly neighbours and a vibrant local community.
We are lucky to have an award winning pizzeria around the corner as well as delicatessen , greengrocer, bakery and several cafe's/ breakfast bars. A short walk away is the popular Bocabar and the Thunderbolt, a popular small music/ spoken word venue. Bristol was recently voted best UK city to live in and European Green Capital .
Bristol is the home of Banksy and a stroll around the city will reveal his works .Bristol is home to many musicians and is close to the Glastonbury and Womad festival sites.
We are within easy reach of the city centre, fifteen minutes by bike or ten minutes by bus to the historic harbourside area, with the SS Great Britain, the Industrial museum, Arnolfini arts centre, City Museum and Art Galleries, Clifton Suspension Bridge and elegant crescents and popular waterfront bars and restaurants. In the summer there are regular outdoor maritime, arts and food festivals, musical events and film showings. We live a short walk from the bus stop into town and twenty minutes walk to Temple Meads railway station and the Bristol airport shuttle. From here it's also a ten minute journey by rail to Bath with its Georgian and Roman attractions and Clevedon pier for the sunset and outdoor seawater swimming pool.
London, Wales, the Wye Valley , Cotswolds and the South Coast are easily accessible for day trips by train or car, as is the nearby Somerset countryside, great for bicycle trips, swimming holes, country pubs and great local beer!
