Elm Court home swap
Light and comfortable apartment with amazing views of Bristol, located in a quiet road just off Whiteladies.
Whiteladies Rd is known for its independent shops, vibrant cafes and restaurants and its bi-monthly farmers market. Buses run every 5mins from Whiteladies to the centre of Bristol which is approximately 2.5miles to the south.
Within 5 mins walk of the apartment are some great organic shops, real ale pubs and a good curry house - not to mention the beautiful Downs, which overlook Clifton Suspension Bridge and Avon Gorge. There is also an old fashioned cinema within 10mins walk from the apartment.
The apartment itself comprises of a king size bedroom, dual aspect lounge, dual aspect kitchen diner and bathroom. All mod cons including washer dryer, 40" TV with Netflix package and wifi and there is on-street parking available. The apartment also has a small balcony - great for watching the wide variety of local birds and fabulous sunrises with a nice cup of tea first thing in the morning, or balloon watching with a G&T on a sunny evening. (Please note, the apartment is on the second floor and there are no lifts).
About the location
Bristol is a very old and beautiful port city. There are always events including the International Balloon Festival, Harbour Festival and St Paul's Carnival (apparently the second largest in the country). It has a wide range of theatres, concert and smaller gig venues and art galleries. It has a number of great museums, including the famous SS Great Britain in which you can easily spend half a day. Bristol has some notable architecture - the Georgian splendor of Clifton, the lively colours and murals of Totterdown and the modernity of some of the new Harbourside developments.
It is also a great city for outdoor lovers. For example, you could explore the Downs for a stroll or spot of kite flying or Perigrine Falcon watching, go sailing or canoeing in the Harbour, tackle some excellent rock climbs in the Avon Gorge (or if the weather's bad - at St Werburgs indoor centre), or horse riding at Blaise Castle or swimming at Clifton Lido. Bristol was voted national Cycle City recently and we have bikes that you can use while you are here as well as a number of cycle guides/maps if you're feeling energetic. You can have a leisurely cycle to Bath on the flat Bristol/Bath cycle track (Sustrains flagship route) or along the Avon Gorge or try your hand at mountain biking in Aston Court and Lee Woods. And if then, you still have the energy, dance the night away at any number of brilliant clubs or live music venues...All these activities are within easy reach by public transport from the apartment.
If you're new to the UK, Bristol is also perfectly located for exploring other fantastic parts of the Country. Its 15 mins by train to Bath Spa, 1hr 40min to London, 1hr to Cardiff and 1hr direct flight to Edinburgh. By car the beautiful towns of Wells, Glastonbury and Cheddar and Tetbury are all within easy reach and the fabulous South Coast and Exmoor are an hour and a half away.
