Vicars Close is the oldest inhabited 14th century cobbled street in Europe and all of the buildings are Grade 1 listed. It is enclosed at one end by a chapel and at the other by a chain gate and is car free.

The houses have been modernised throughout whilst retaining their historic character. There is also an extensive attic with another double futon bed.

Wells Cathedral has a wealth of music and the Bishop's Palace is also open for exploration. The cathedral is visible from the house, beyond the Vicars Hall at the bottom of the close. Music is central to life in Wells, both in the Cathedral itself and in the world renowned Wells Cathedral School.

Bath and Bristol are 40 minutes by car or an hour on public transport. The Somerset levels are easily explored by bicycle and the Mendip Hills provide much to explore. There is also a wonderful twice weekly market in the city centre and a wealth of excellent restaurants.
