Sydney Eastern suburbs, close to beach, easy access into the city home swap
My Maroubra Beach home is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, modern apartment. Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, gas cooktop, electric oven, large fridge and lots of appliances. Separate laundry with w/machine and drier. Sunny balcony.
The main bedroom has a double bed, built in cupboards and an ensuite bathroom with shower. The second bedroom has a single bed and is really only suitable for one person, although at a pinch there is space for a blow-up bed for a child to use, The apartment complex has well-maintained grounds with a swimming pool and tennis court for your use.
My apartment is on the first floor, up 14 steps from ground level. The basement garage also has 14 steps up to ground level. There is no lift.
The beach is a 5-minute level walk from my home, with several cafes and small shops on the way. My favourite is the Pavilion cafe-restaurant right by the beach, a lovely spot to gaze out over the bay and watch the surfers while having a coffee, or a
casual lunch of local prawns and a glass of chilled prosecco or a cold beer.
About the location
Maroubra is in Sydney's eastern suburbs, about 10km (6 miles) from the city, Opera House and harbour. Good bus service takes about 30 minutes into the city. Maroubra Beach is a wide sandy bay a 5-minute level walk from the apartment. Near the beach there are cafes, shops, and pub. Maroubra Junction, a 5-minute drive or bus-ride away (or 15 minute walk), has supermarkets, delis, cafes, post office, banks etc. Several golf courses nearby, most in spectacular positions near the ocean.
You can get a bus from here to the Sydney Opera House for music and opera, and in May each year the Sydney Writers' Festival is on, with an amazing selection of literary events, authors speaking about their work, book launches etc. In June is the Sydney Film Festival which premieres many new films from around the world.
Sydney is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city with many museums and galleries, excellent theatre options, a writers' festival in May and a film festival in June.
The Blue Mountains are a two-hour drive away, or if you prefer to use public transport, a bus to Central Station takes 20-30 minutes, then a train from there takes about 2 hours to the mountains.
