About the location

Our house is on a ridge between two lowland moors -the nearest guest house to Westhay national nature reserve famous for wetland birds, otters, and rare species such as cattle egrets, marsh harriers and bitterns.
The first national area of outstanding natural beauty called the Mendip Hills is nearby. The flatlands attract cyclists from afar for hundreds of miles of backroad cycling.

Within 1 hour is Bath - a Roman empire world heritage site, Bristol - historical port city , Glastonbury- new age alternative town, Wells - the smallest cathedral city in the UK. Stonehenge is also just over an hour away. If you like walking there are spectacular countryside routes over the only county in the UK that has 5 named hill ranges.
Somerset has 70 of the top 100 churches in the UK
The sea to the west is 30 minutes drive and the English Channel coastal towns are 1 hour away including Bridport, Lyme Regis and Weymouth. There is a local express bus direct to London
