Long Term Home Exchange

Although the majority of Home Base Holidays members want fairly short, vacation home swaps, some members are looking for longer exchanges and others (especially retired members) are able to be flexible and consider long term swaps. Longer exchanges can be for periods of a few weeks up to over one year in length.

When you search listings you will see at the top of the page that one of the default settings is 'Sort by Membership Date' (i.e. newest listings first). Change this to 'Sort by Duration' to sort listings by the length of exchange members want (plus also those that are 'open to offers' on length). This should help you find the most likely offers:

You can also use the Detailed Search page for additional search options to limit your results. Choose Long Term Exchange from the drop down list under Type of Exchange and click Search (bottom, right on the page). You may also narrow the results before doing a search by choosing a country, entering a city name, etc in the main search box at the top of the page. Detailed Search:

Members who want longer exchanges sometimes arrange one 'longish' exchange if not able to find an exchange for the full period, and use other accommodation for the remainder of the period. Others arrange more than one exchange; this takes careful planning but can be done given enough time to arrange before the exchange period. You will also see that some members offer homes (often second homes) for rent as well as exchange and others offer hospitality so you may be able to arrange your stay using a combination of exchanging and paying for accommodation.
