Romantic, peaceful cottage - Golden Circle route - Currently only looking for non-simultaneous exchange!

Enjoy a break and unwind at our peaceful oasis: our second home. Located approx. 70min drive from Reykjavik, on the Golden Circle route among birch trees, heather, and birdsong. There is a good hot tub on one side of the porch and a barbecue. Very good internet connection/wi-fi.

On quiet evenings you can hear the river Brúará and the Brúarfoss waterfall nearby. There are other cottages nearby but ours is located on 700 m2 of woodland, so it has a secluded feeling. Footpaths through the trees. Excellent for 1 - 2 couples; a couple with 1-2 teenagers; 2 - 3 friends etc. We don`t have equipment for small children.

The cottage is 62 m2, 30 years old and has a lovely cozy atmosphere which you can expect in a rustic house made of wood. Two small bedrooms (each with a double bed 140 cm) and one small room for working if needed. A loft with a low ceiling where two people can sleep if needed on mattresses (but you cannot stand upright). A small bathroom with a good shower.

The main room is the comfortable living room with a fully equipped kitchen in one corner. There is a wooden porch on three sides of the cottage, and we enjoy the sun all day when the weather is good. There is an outdoor table and chairs.
TV (Netflix, BBC World, Scandinavian TV stations and lots more). There is no washing-machine yet, but there are facilities in the neighbourhood.

We have an excellent heating system and can stay in the cottage all year round... except when the snow gets too heavy...and we can`t get there.

This year (2024) we are looking for a non-simultaneous exchange, not knowing at the moment when we could travel, but we can offer our cottage in the coming months if an interesting exchange should present itself. We look forward to hearing from you!

About the location

The area is woodland and has many summer cottages either private or owned by unions that rent out cottages to their members.

Our cottage is extremely well located for those who want to visit the many beautiful sites and places that the Southwest Iceland has to offer. Among them is the Golden Circle (Geysir, Gullfoss, Skálholt and Thingvellir). Don`t forget that you might just want to enjoy the quiet, romantic atmosphere of the cottage and take some healing and relaxing walks in the neighborhood.

Just a 10 to 20 min drive takes you to many desirable attractions, the Geysir hot spring area and the impressive Gullfoss Falls to name a few. On the way from/to Reykjavik, you can visit Þingvellir, a World Heritage site. Skálholt nearby is one of our most historic places.

There are at least four swimming pools located ca 10 - 35 minutes from the cottage and grocery stores in same places, 10 - 35 min. away, depending on how large you want them to be :)

We have really good restaurants nearby, most located 5 - 20 minutes away.

Walking trails are in the neighbourhood, horse rental and more.
