Church Gate House

Our home is a 30 year old stone built property located in a conservation area at the end of a quiet no through road in a small village on the edge of the Mendip Hills. It is built into a slope and has a large garden sloping down to a river so there are several different levels within the the house and the garden which may not suitable for someone with limited mobility or toddlers. There is a modern fully fitted kitchen and two sitting rooms and three en-suite bedrooms - two bedrooms have double beds and one has a truckle bed which can be used as a single bed or pulled out to make a double. The house has gas central heating and there is a wood burning stove in one of the sitting rooms.

About the location

Litton is a small village in a rural location on the edge of the Mendip Hills and the Chew Valley. It is a popular area for walkers and there are lots of lovely walks from the house. There is a local reservoir where herons and egrets can be seen and the nearby Chew Valley lake is also popular with birdwatchers. A short drive will take you to the top of the Mendip Hills which affords many lovely walks and rewarding views over the Somerset levels. The city of Wells is just a 15 minute drive away from Litton with its beautiful cathedral, Bishops Palace and gardens and a popular market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Glastonbury with its famous Tor is also nearby. Cheddar Gorge and it’s well known caves are also within a 30 minute drive as well as the smaller but equally interesting Wookey Hole caves. The larger cities of Bristol and Bath are approximately 15 miles away and offer lots of sightseeing attractions as well as theatres and plenty of shopping opportunities.
