Holiday Flat by the Sea
Our little flat (apartment) on the Shore Road in the village of Innellan in the West Scotland overlooks the Firth of Clyde, an hour and a half West of Glasgow, including a 25 minute ferry from Gourock.
The beach is just over the road with several sandy swimming spots at low tide.
It`s only a small place, but compact, comfortable and beautifully refurbished, with room on the comfy couch for an extra person or child.
We go up there as often as we can and lend it to friends. You can spend hours sitting in an armchair gazing out to sea.
About the location
The village, a popular holiday resort in Victorian times, is a very relaxing spot with gorgeous views towards the hills and over the water where you can see wildlife, seabirds, and this year, a pair of sea otters from our windows.
There`s a community shop and two friendly pubs/restaurants in the village, with hills and beaches nearby etc. Real ale, live Scottish folk music and surprisingly very few midges!
Buses into Dunoon, the nearest town, are once an hour, but the bus-stop is only a few yards away and the ferry connects with Gourock train station, under an hour's ride from Glasgow Central.
Dunoon has lots of community facilities, such as a gym, leisure centre and a fabulous library, overlooking the sea and the mountains.
