About the location

We look out onto Collingwood Channel. Crayola Beach is a five minute walk. We live across from a wooded creek and are surrounded by hiking trails. This is a rural area. No local services. 15 minutes to the Cove for restaurants, two grocery stores, pharmacy, beer and wine, medical services, shopping and the ferry. The airport is 1.5 hours away depending on when the next ferry is. Ferries go to Horseshoe Bay and Vancouver every 70 minutes or so. This is a hilly area. There are two flights of stairs in the house so not suitable for people with disabilities. If you like quiet, rural, walking, hiking, stairs, hills and fitness, this is the home for you. There is a golf course on island, you can rent kayaks and there is one public tennis court. Bowen Island has about 3700 full time residents and about 5000 summer residents. We live on a private lane with six other homes, friendly neighbours and people who say hi when we are out for a walk, whether you know them or not. In winter, we may get snow, so we have a 4x4 vehicle with great snow tires so you can get out and around. We are two hours from Whistler, 1 hour from two local ski resorts where you can snowshoe, cross country and downhill or snowboard.
