Pacific view at Caves Beach

The Pacific Ocean is visible from most of our house, including two large decks, lounge room, kitchen and master bedroom. Sitting in our upstairs lounge we can watch surfers, paddleboarders, boats and even whales and dolphins. Our house is modern coastal style, about 12 years old. Kitchen and living spaces are upstairs to take advantage of the view, but you can still watch the sunrise over the sea from the master bedroom downstairs. It`s one of a duplex, but the other side is mostly empty, though rented out occasionally. Bi-fold doors to the front deck let the sea breeze through on warm summer days, but the location between the ocean and Lake Macquarie keeps temperatures mild even on the hottest days.

About the location

Our beautiful patrolled beach is less than 2 minutes` walk away and the famous local beach caves and rockpools just around the corner, providing endless entertainment. There`s a huge dog off-leash beach 10 minutes` walk away and many walks possible along the coast towards historic Catherine Hill Bay to the south. The kiosk at the beach has great takeaway coffee and food and the bar at the surf club is open most Friday nights. Caves Beach also has a café, restaurant, pharmacy, two small supermarkets and a takeaway food store. Larger shops are in Swansea, 5 minutes` drive away. Most weekends you can find a farmers` market or music/food/beer festival nearby to attend. Newcastle, with its historic centre, beaches, port, restaurants, theatres and stadium is 35 minutes north. The Hunter Valley wine region is less than an hour away.
