Hôtel particulier Maleteste: open doors to the world.

There are magical places in Dijon, old hôtel particuliers that are open to the world, such as our home the Hôtel Maleteste.
In this historical place, my husband Paul Blagny and I, have created a place of hospitality to welcome guest from every part of the word and especially -because of the cultural and musical background of the building - to painters, sculptors, musicians, and writers.
In fact, this house was built against the Gallo-roman wall of the city and was opened in the 17th century by the first of five generations of the Maleteste to the arts. Here the most famous guest was
Jean-Philipe Rameau, composer to a new dimension of music; harmonic music.
Today, Paul and I open the doors. And we like to welcome visitors seeking a calm atmosphere in the city to visit Dijon and Burgundy.
It is also possible to visit, with Paul, other parts of the building: the library where you can dive into the old collection of law books and others; or share a meal and a glass of local wine in the dining room to make a complete French cultural experience.
Do you want to play music? Piano, guitar, bombos, limonaire, tibetan bowls are the main assets of this house.
Do you want to dance? Do as the American contemporary dancer Kathryn Roznak from San Francisco did a few years ago, which is now shared in the creation of a new documentary project with us.

Or just come, artistic qualities are not necessarily required to stay with us.
For many years we have been welcoming guests from the USA and many other parts of the world renting different apartments in the building through booking.com with a rating of 8.4. Some guests who said "This place oozes character, charm, and atmosphere. With our 4yo girl believing she was staying in a Princesses bedroom".
However, now we want to explore a new way of sharing our home and also have the opportunity to go and stay at yours.
We will make available "the suit of musicians", a whole beautiful flat for you and your family. An apartment where the composers Alain KREMSKI, Laurent MARTIN, have stayed. The Bolivian musicians Florindo ALVIS and his family, Antonio PEREZ and his musicians are regulars. As well as Argentinian Tango Dancers.
Two Bedrooms, one bathroom, open plan living room/Dining room, and a fully equipped Kitchen.
Parking and laundry available.

About the location

We are located in the historic centre of Dijon.
Home to Dukes of Burgundy for 4 centuries, Dijon is a magnificent combination of colour and culture. Set on a large square with fountains, the Ducal Palace houses a fabulous fine art museum. You can climb Philippe Le Bon tower here for wonderful views of the multi-coloured tiles typical of the city’s roofs.

Equally as vibrant are the half-timbered facades in the Old Town. The best examples are in cobbled Place François Rude, where relaxed bars and cafes offer good people watching.

On a grander scale is Place Darcy whose Porte Guillaume arch faces a shady park. Dijon’s many green spaces include huge Parc de la Colombière whose central path was considered by Louis XIV the most beautiful in his kingdom. Another popular walk is along Promenade de l`Ouche starting near the hospital and ending at large Kir Lake where you can swim.

This is an evidently wealthy city, so there are plenty of places to shop, but a must-see is Les Halles market, designed by Gustav Eiffel, architect of the tower.
