In Gascony, the old farm of the village - in a "maison de maitre" - Poucharramet
Built at the turn of the 20th century, our house has been a farm and has been kept with little change since, but has been equipped with all comfort, although not sophisticated. The garden with its many trees gives privacy and plenty of shady spots for eating outside. the house is in a small village ( listed church of the 13th century, baker`s shop, grocer shop). There is room for two cars under a shed, and for bicycles in the old barn adjacent.
The old barn has been turned into a worksop ( downstairs) and a painter`s studio ( upstairs) - which is not for living in.
The bedrooms are on the first and second floor (not quite an attic, but with the slope of the roof). If necessary the ground floor lounge and library can be used as two bedrooms (a couch and a one place bed)
About the location
South West of Toulouse, the village is about one hour`s drive from the Pyrenees mountains, and two hours from Spain and Andorra; two hours from either the Mediterranean or the Atlantic. It offers excursions to the Gers medieval villages and castles, or to the Lot and Dordogne. If you don`t want to drive you can go to Toulouse by bus (stops just by the house, twice a day each way) or by train ( 18 km from the station). Toulouse offers a lot of museums and galleries, cafés, festivals, industrial tourism...You can`t swim in the Garonne but could have a go at rowing if you really want some boating sport...
