4 bed house with natural swimming pool - Highgate, London

Our home is an exceptional and enchanting double fronted Edwardian house in the middle of London with many original features. It has very recently been fully refurbished, so has a wonderful kitchen, bathrooms etc. The secluded garden is a small oasis, with a large natural swimming pool (heated approx 7 months of the year) , decking, patios and grassed area. The area is very quiet, full of wonderful wildlife and the garden is backing onto one of the local nature reserves, Parkland Walk. There are 4 double bedrooms, with the option of adding extra beds in other rooms, which are currently not used as bedrooms. The underground is less than 10 mins walk, and takes you straight into the centre of town. Due to the deep swimming pool I wouldn't recommend our house for families with young children. We have a daily cleaner, who can come in to clean, change beds and help with laundry etc. She would also be available to cook at an additional fee.

About the location

Ever since poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge made for the leafy and lofty beauty of Highgate to try and tackle his opium addiction, the area has been a magnet for creative individuals and more recently, celebrities who like to blend in. When families aren't busy socialising or partaking in community events, they're free to enjoy the beautiful environment Highgate has to offer. Situated on one of London's highest points, the village commands great views over central London and the expansive greenery of Hampstead Heath. Much like neighbouring Hampstead, the High Street is the area's social hub where everyone from teenagers meeting to share that day's gossip to pensioners taking a stroll gathers for coffee and cake. Residents cherish this village-like atmosphere safe in the knowledge that Leicester Square is only a 20 minute Tube journey away. Despite the area's exclusive reputation, Highgate is a leafy residential area featuring gastropubs and fine 18th-century buildings. Novelist George Eliot and revolutionary Karl Marx as well as George Michael, are among the buried at Highgate Cemetery, known for its elaborate tombs and wild greenery. Families with kids feed the ducks in neighbouring Waterlow Park, home to Lauderdale House, a graceful old mansion that hosts exhibitions and concerts. Hampstead Heath is very close, a large parkland area. It all gives the feeling of living in the countryside, while living in the city.
