Center of Prague

Our apartment is on the fourth floor (with elevator). We have one large bedroom and one large living room. The living room has two sofabeds. We have a very large kitchen, an entrance way from the front door, and bathroom and a WC off the hallway. The washing machine is in the bathroom, which is large. We use air-drying for our clothes so we don`t have a dryer. The kitchen has an electric stove/oven.

The apartment has natural air conditioning and some passive air conditioning from a machine in the basement that vents cool air into the flat. On summer days, it`s always a little cooler in the flat than outdoors. But it is not one of those ice-cold air-conditioning situations.

Despite being in a busy urban center, the flat is quiet because the all the windows face a quiet courtyard. The building`s walls are very thick and there is no issue with neighbor noise.

We have wifi.

About the location

We live a few steps from the Narodni Trida metro and tram stop. You will see on your map that this is the very center of Prague in terms of both transport and location. That means you can walk to Old Town, Wenceslas Square, the river, or the Municipal House (Obecni Dum) and Powder Tower in 10-15 minutes.

But there is much more in walking distance also--the Jewish Quarter, more of New Town, all the area along the river. You can walk across the bridge to the other side of the river and be in the Mala Strana (Small Quarter) in 20 minutes. The historic Charles Bridge is about a 15-20 minute walk away or a couple minutes by tram.

The trams and metro take you anywhere quickly. Because Narodni Trida is the central hub of public transit, you can take trams or metro very easily to any place in the city. Directly to Mala Strana, Old Town, the Charles Bridge etc. within minutes. Direct to the Prague Castle in under 15 minutes. And of course the metro will take you much farther and faster all over Prague.

In terms of the conveniences near the flat, there are several supermarkets a block away from the flat. There is a shopping center a block away, with many specialty shops (Italian dairy and cheese, coffee stores, etc.) There are small corner markets on the same street also.

There are countless restaurants and pubs all around within walking distance, from tradition Czech food to a vegetarian Indian-style buffet restaurant and everything in between--Italian, pizza places, Mexican fast food, Turkish fast food, etc. There`s a new Czech food place on the street also.

Cafes are all over the area, with a "Choco-cafe" right across the street that features chocolate coffee drinks and some fancy desserts.

The flat is right near the Louvre cafe-restaurant and about a ten-minute walk from the historic Cafe Slavia with also offers meals.

There are many music clubs of all sorts very close and in the area. The Rock Cafe and Klub Vagon, which both feature live rock music, are minutes by foot. There are several jazz clubs nearby. There are many concert halls for classical music in the area, including within walking distance the historic Estates Theater (where Mozart once debuted his work).

If you like going to movies during your visit, one large multiplex cinema is a ten-minute walk, and the historic classic old-fashioned cinema Lucerna is the same distance, along with the old-fashioned cinema Svetezor. The latest English-language films can be viewed in the original language at all these theaters.

The river-walk entertainment area of "Naplavka" is a lively area in the summer, with boats that feature concerts and restaurants and bars, and food stands and outdoor bars along with river walk. This is walking distance from the flat also, about ten minutes. https://prazskenaplavky.cz/

You can rent paddleboats and rowboats on the river in the summer, and that is within walking distance. You can also go on different boat tours of Prague and those facilities are withing walking distance or a short tram ride away.

Also, the main train station is a five-minute tram ride away, and Prague is ideally located for exploring other cities and countries. Vienna, Austria is close enough to be a day trip, Berlin is about five hours by train, Bratislava in Slovakia is only four hours. The charming Czech town of Tabor is only 1.5 hours by train, so it`s another day-trip possibility.
