Bright, spacious home - Edinburgh suburb

Our house was completed in 2016; it is a one-off detached 4 bedroom family home, three miles north west of Edinburgh city centre in the suburb of Silverknowes/Davidson's Mains. The house is spacious (150.8sqm/1623sqf) and light. Downstairs there is a comfortable sitting room, cloakroom, utility room and large kitchen/dining/family room. The kitchen has an island, wood-burner and bi-fold doors out to the west-facing garden, which is sunny, flat and suitable for small children. Upstairs are 4 good-sized bedrooms; one twin, one single, one double, master double bedroom and family bathroom. The master double bedroom has corner double-height windows and an en-suite. Outside we have a secure shed, greenhouse and a large driveway, so parking is not a problem.

About the location

Our house is 3 miles North West of Edinburgh city centre, adjacent to a network of excellent traffic-free tarmacked cycle paths (former old railway lines). At the bottom of the road is a golf course (several others nearby), fields and Silverknowes foreshore. Nearby are walks along the River Almond and to Cramond Island, Cramond Harbour and cafes. Lauriston Castle is in Davidson's Mains and is just a 10 minute walk from the house. We are on several bus routes, which go directly into the city centre. The Firth of Forth is at the bottom of the road and the Pentland Hills are only a 20 minute drive away. Davidson's Mains has a useful high street which has a Post Office, Tesco, Boots the chemist, a cafe, two pubs and other small shops.

Edinburgh city centre is 3 miles away and can be accessed on direct buses from our house. Edinburgh is a fantastic city, packed with things to visit. The old and new towns are UNESCO World heritage sites. The city is home to Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, The Scottish Parliament building, Edinburgh Zoo, Arthur's Seat and surrounding parkland. There are also several art galleries, theatres and cinemas. In the vibrant suburb of Stockbridge, about 2 miles from our house, are the beautiful Botanical Gardens, Inverleith park and lots of excellent restaurants.

August brings the International festival, Fringe festival and The Book Festival. Hundreds of shows and performances take place all over the city, throughout the month.

Within walking distance of our house is Lauriston Castle and grounds (5 mins walk), Davidson's Mains Park (5 mins), Silverknowes Foreshore (20 mins) and Cramond Harbour (30mins).
