About the location

As part of the 'Sun and Wine Route' in the AxarquÃa region, Canillas de Albaida is a small inland town that is 19k from the coast, that started out as an Arab village in the 13th century. The centre of this village is located on the slopes of the Tejeda and Almijara mountains right on the border between Malaga and Granada provinces. The layout of the village clearly shows the town's Arab origins with a labyrinth of narrow streets, winding through rows of low, whitewashed homes. There is a good selection of restaurants and Bar/Cafes. Local supermarkets can supply all needs for a locally sourced relaxing holiday.

There are 3 villages within a 5 - 30 minute walk. (Archez 5mins - Canillas 15mins - Competa 30mins) all being typical in the Andalusian white walled style.

There is a regular (3 times daily) bus service to the Malaga that takes you through the local and costal villages. Walks and horse-riding all locally available.

Malaga is a one hours drive (2 hours by local bus) and has all that you would expect from a modern city. However Malaga still retains all of its heritage and charm.
