The School on the Hill

Unique and beautiful converted primary school in the hills of the Alentejo, this spacious villa type house sits on a hill in an oasis of vines and fruit trees. There is a luxurious feel to to the 25sqm living room and a marble staircase leads to the two double bedrooms and tiled bathroom. Curved arch pillars on a roofed verandah give a retro style to the building. A place to get away from it all and relax. House is very rural and access is via an unmade road approx. 4-5 kms but perfectly passable with any standard car.

About the location

The Alentejo is a beautiful and natural environment. Cork and eucalyptus tree grow in abundance and the district is a haven for birds and wildlife. Eagles, owls, woodpeckers to name but a few have been spotted near the house also the (harmless) Iberian Lynx cat. There is much of archeological and historical interest to be found and several ancient sites nearby to find and visit. However Albufeira is only a 45 minute drive away for a daytrip to the razzmatazz of the Algarve.
