Country cottage

The house
This is a very lovely Georgian stone built cottage with large airy rooms and a fantastic garden. The cottage is very private with its own drive way, outdoor washing line and vegetable patch.

The house is next to the main Georgian farmhouse where I grew up with my parents who still live in the main house. The house and cottage are on the famous Goodwood estate and sit in a 3 acres of land, where my parents keep chickens and small and friendly dogs who are very safe with children. You may see them on their land from time to time.

The kitchen has an AGA cooker, large round table for the family to eat at and is fitted with a fridge-freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and an excellent selection of cooking equipment.

The sitting room is very large and peaceful. It has a wood burning stove, 2 very large sofas and a flatscreen TV with a range of channels. We also have a chromecast so you can watch any film you like through that.

Upstairs you will find a very large double bedroom with a traditional French wooden bed, huge wardrobe and plenty of space to put an extra bed. The bedroom looks over the beautiful garden.

There is also a small single bedroom with a chest of draws, single bed and room to blow up 1 of our 2 high quality air beds for additional person(s).

The bathroom is large and airy with a bath and shower, toilette, basin, cupboard and a cork floor with views to the garden.

The garden
There is a large table with chairs for outdoor dining and a BBQ. We also have a big fig tree in the garden and some fruit trees, such as plum and apple. We have our own established vegetable plot, where we grow many things to eat including french beans, spinach, courgette, tomatoes, fruits, squashes, carrots, onions and herbs - you are welcome to use some of the produce and to buy fresh eggs from my parents.

A cleaner can be arranged at your cost of £20 per day (depending on how many days you require her to be here)

About the location

The house is surrounded by fields, normally home to sheep and cows from Goodwood`s organic farm - it is a peaceful place abundant with beauty. We are located within the heart of Goodwood, just 3 minutes walk to the world famous vintage motor racing circuit and airfield where Goodwood hosts fantastic events. Goodwood has wonderful rolling hills and a beautiful landscape, which is great for walks. There are a number of fabulous country pubs in the area where you can sometimes find live folk music.

The equally famous horse racing venue is a 2-minute drive away from the house. The stunning Goodwood Country Club and Spa offers a very reasonable day membership of £25 and is a 1-minute drive from your door.

As we are just a 2-minute drive from the small airfield, you will witness noise from vintage airplanes and quite possibly from the famous Goodwood events that run just minutes walk from your door. You are likely to see the most fabulous small vintage planes flying past the house and may be lucky enough to witness a free air display!

Goodwood’s rolling hills are some of the most beautiful downs in the country and make for wonderful walks and picnics. There are also some fantastic local pubs in the area, where you can enjoy some of the best food in Sussex.

You are 3 minutes drive from the Weald and Downland Museum, famous for their historic buildings and food and music festivals, which are really fun to visit for the whole family. Also you are 5 minutes from West Dean College where they run a range of arts and crafts workshops.

You are 3 miles from the historic City of Chichester, which has the famous Chichester Festival theatre, an abundance of shops and restaurants, not to mention the beautiful Cathedral and stunning stone build city walls.

The large towns of Brighton (on the sea) and Portsmouth (famous Port) are both 1 hour away. They are fantastic places to explore - Brighton is very fashionable and home to some great restaurants, bars and of course the famous Lanes (millions of independent artistic shops and cafes).

You can get to some of England`s most famous and wonderful beaches (West Witterings) in 30 minutes and to Selsey where you can buy fresh fish, lobster and crab straight out of the sea from the fisherman.
London is 1 hour and 40 minutes away by train from Chichester, it makes a pretty easy day trip and the line goes straight into Victoria, so right into the centre of town.
