About the location

Bude is situated on the rugged north coast of Cornwall. It is a small sea side town with many independent quality shops and restaurants. It has several beaches that are in walking distance, great coastal and canal walks and opportunities to try different outdoor pursuits in particular it is a great place to learn to surf.On Summerleaze beach which is nearest to us there is a large tidal swimming pool.

A five minute walk down the road from us is a pub and hotel that overlook the canal. On the other side is a cafe/restaurant and a barge cafe on the canal - so plenty of places to eat in a very short walking distance. Rowing boats and Pedalos can be hired to take up the canal.

There is a cycle path adjacent to the canal path that leads to a lovely very relaxed cafe/ Bistro called `The Weir` (20-25minute cycle ride / approx 45 minute walk) with playpark for children. From here their are different routes where you can walk to Widemouth beach and coast path with stunning views (as well as several places to eat ) which then leads back to Bude or alternatively there is a footpath that follows the canal back from The Weir to where you started.

On a Friday in the summer there is an open air Craft and Farmers market next to the canal and all year round on Saturdays an Indoor Farmers market. Bude has recently opened a refill shop which is proving very popular with those keen to reduce their personal use of plastic packaging.

There are many nearby villages and towns worth a visit.
