About us

Alan & I are quite laid-back characters, both aged 55. I'm an educational psychologist and he's a paint company properties manager, both working near Bradford. We love quiet holidays which don't need a car. We like mountains, countryside, quiet medieval towns, places with character but not much traffic, though we certainly would not rule out European cities. We don't need any "night life", because we love to read. My 17 yr old son sometimes likes to accompany us, and he might bring a well-behaved friend along...

We live in a traditional 19th century Hebden Bridge with two sitting rooms (both with TV), two bedrooms and two bathrooms, If there are more than 3 of you, there's a huge sofa-bed in the sitting room which sleeps 2 (or even 3!)

The double bedroom and ensuite bathroom are tucked away in the attic, and there is a small second bedroom on the middle floor which would suit a single adult, child or teenager, but we no longer have stair gates or fire guards, so it's not really safe for toddlers.

Things you might not like about our house: the kitchen is quite small and there's no dishwasher. But all of our previous swappers have been very complimentary.
