Dorchester Victorian Cottage

Victorian Cottage in the Historic town of Dorchester. Quiet setting, and perfect to explore the Jurassic Coast and rural Dorset. Good transport links to Bath, Bristol, Exeter,and South Coast. London is 2.5 hours by car. Nearest seaside is 6 miles at Weymouth with sandy beaches, which can be reached by bus and train from Dorchester. Easy walk to local pubs restaurants.

Our home is comfy rather than stylish. 2 Double bedrooms +bathroom up stairs and second shower+toilet down. Downstairs has a sitting room, a separate study, plus an extended
kitchen +dining area with french windows to the rear garden.
The garden has a small pond so young children need supervision.
We do not currently have pets but are happy for well behaved dogs to visit. Parking in the lane in front of house. Please be aware that the front access involves steps from the lane up to pathway to front garden. Gas fired central heating, gas cooker and gas fires in sitting and study. Underfloor to kitchen.

About the location

Dorset has no motorway and remains very rural. There are many walks and historic villages around. We are in an older area of Dorchester and it is a 7 min walk into the center of town, but our lane is tucked away and unadopted, so quite a bumpy lane but quiet. Weymouth is a 15 min drive, with sandy shallow beaches, or a deeper shingle beach at Overcombe for swimming and windsurfing, likewise off the causeway to Portland near the national sailing center. Lots of walking maps in the house.Thomas Hardys home is a short walking distace and birth cottage either a 10 min drive or longer walk. Both Nat Trust, as is T E Lawrences home. Lots of cycling routes.
