Lovely 3 Bed home in Casares, Spain

Casares is one of the most photographed villages in Spain. It is a picture postcard village stunningly perched on the side of a precipitous sandstone buttress some 15km from the beach. It is known by some as the 'hanging or sugar cube village'.

Our house in the centre of the village comprises a large entrance hall leading into a spacious TV room. On the first floor a large open plan kitchen, dining room and shower room. The second floor, 3 bedrooms and a further shower room. The third floor a utility room with washer, drier and freezer; outside covered terrace with spectacular views of North Africa, the Atlas mountains and the Moroccan coast. On top of the utility room is a further viewing terrace. All rooms with h/c a/c. Satellite TV in the dining room, lounge and master bedroom. Public swimming pool, tennis court, parking, shops and good restaurants nearby. There is internet at 10Mb, with wifi throughout the property.

This vibrant & historic village will give you a real Spanish experience, nestling in the hillside with its white painted sugar cube houses interlaced by narrow cobbled streets. You will also find a good variety of shops and exceptional restaurants closeby to further enhance your stay here.

The area is renown for its beauty and wildlife. Eagles are known to frequent the mountains around Casares and the area is one of the main migration routes over to Africa especially for birds of prey; being the shortest crossing via Gibraltar. Kestrels, peregrines and falcons can also be observed. The surrounding area is absolutely stunning and begs exploration. The ports of Estepona, Duquesa & Sotogrande make pleasant local excursions.

The origins of Casares date back to Roman times, when Julius Caesar ordered its construction as a show of gratitude for having been healed by the waters of the Baths of La Hedionda. However, the current town dates from the time of the Arabs. Outstanding among its historic sights are the ruins of an Arab castle, the church of Nuestra Se?ora de la Encarnaci?n, from the 17th century; the convent of Santa Catalina, from the 16th century; the caves of Ballesteros, the caves of Hedionda and the Sima de los Huesos.
