The house is 100 years old and stands in wooded grounds of about an acre. It is close to the Beaulieu river and about half a mile from the village centre. Beaulieu is in the New Forest which is just about to become a National Park and has many opportunities for walking, golf and horse riding. Beaulieu also hosts the National Motor Museum and is within a few miles of the Solent with its many sailing attractions. The coastal market town of Lymington is about 6 miles away with its Saturday market and Marinas. Within that distance there are a couple of major supermarkets. The nearest large town is Southampton about 12 miles away and London is approximately one and a half hours by train or 80 miles by road.

My wife, Carol, and I have three grown up children; two doctors and one scientist who are living and working in the London area which we visit often. This has allowed us to take early retirement, although I retain some business interests, and the opportunity to travel (following in our childrens footsteps). We tend to be of a scientific rather than artistic bent but are keen readers and theatre goers. I am an enthusiastic sailor and Carol is an active tennis player, although we swap roles from time to time. We both play badminton and enjoy walking with our dog and cycling in the New Forest and Dorset.
