Combe Bridge Cottage

Our "cottage" is a beautiful, newly thatched, 17th century Devon house. It has five bedrooms in the main house (two doubles, one twin, and two singles, one with an extra pull out bed) , with three bathrooms (two en suite), a huge double sitting room with a baby grand piano and open inglenook fireplace, a dining room with a wood burner, a downstairs cloakroom, a snug, a large kitchen, a scullery, and a boot room. The annex, which is connected to the main house, has a further bedroom on a mezzanine floor (the old "hayloft") over a large living area, small but fully equipped kitchen, and its own bathroom. The Hayloft is self contained making it ideal for grandparents, nannies, or those who wish to be undisturbed in the mornings! It is a spacious, peaceful, house with a happy heart and a calming spirit. Everyone sleeps well here, helped by the sound of the burbling brook over the country lane bordering the house. About the location

Combe Bridge Cottage is located in Dartmoor National Park, in a quiet valley on the edge of Dartmoor, made famous by Conan Doyle's "Hound of the Baskervilles" (which he wrote in a manor house a mile along the lane). Our small valley is secluded and calm; up on the moors you will find ancient granite landscape, broad vistas of beautiful moorland, wild ponies and sheep, all criss-crossed by streams and rivers including the majestic River Dart, and fringed by woodland and beautiful rolling Devon farmland. This is remote, peaceful, un-spoilt and ancient landscape. It is hard to believe our house is only a three mile drive from the A38 linking the cathedral city of Exeter to the seaport and naval base at Plymouth.
